After traveling through Central or South America Hostel Mamallena and Panama City are great places to relax and re-charge your batteries. No matter what you’re after you’ll find it here.

If you’re sailing to Colombia, we know when the boats to Cartagena are leaving and can hook you up. If you want to head to San Blas and chill on the beach for a few days we can arrange it. If you’d like to spend a few days sailing in the Las Perlas Islands, Isla Coiba or the Darien we can arrange that too. Check with us for information on sailing to other locations.

If it’s the nightlife you’re after(and Panama City has the best in Central America) then we can tell you which are the best pubs, clubs and restaurants. We’re always finding new places, and our list of happy hours seems to keep growing. Cheaper still is heading to the supermarket, stocking up on alcohol and heading back to socialize with everyone else on the terrace.

Even if you chose not to stay with us drop in and have a look. We’re sure you’ll be impressed(and sorry you stayed somewhere else). Stop in for a drink on the terrace, use the book exchange, visit some friends, get your laundry done. Our services are NOT just for guests only(depending on how nice you are of course!!!)

A friend and I are planning a tour of Panama, and after hearing from several friends who have done the same thing, we have decided to take a moment at Mamallena Backpackers! One thing I would be very grateful to find out concerns flights/alternative transport going there from the airport down to the very door at Mamallena Backpackers…

we stayed 5 nights total at the start and end of our panama vaca… both private room and bunks… even booked a san blas trip thru them – nice! this place was great. the owner and staff are very helpful and easy going. the place is cheap, clean and quiet… a great atmosphere. spacious common areas, new baths downstairs, 4 free computer terminals, cheap cold beer, drinks, snacks, mini-supers very close, free self-serve pancakes and coffee each morn, lockers for valuables, many books/movies/games, lots of info about the city/country/tours is posted. new private rooms are being added as of 12-15-08. only drawback: decent restaurants or bars are 20+min walk or a cab ride… crazy 25cent bus is at the corner. we’d stay here again any time. a very nice experience. tedly&ellen 12-08
